Public discussions held on construction of HPPs on Paravani river
Shalva Kiknavelidze, Technical Director of GOGC, held meetings with Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki population together with representatives of the National Environmental Agency, Environmental Information and Education Center, consulting company "Gamma Consulting" and the local authorities.
During the meetings, information about "Paravani 1" HPP and "Paravani 2" HPP projects was provided to the local population. GOGC is conducting a comprehensive feasibility study of the HPPs on the basis of the agreement concluded with the Government of Georgia. EIA (scoping) report is already prepared and public discussions of the report were held in two villages of Ninotsminda Municipality – Eshtia and Jigrasheni and village Khorenia, Akhalkalaki Municipality.
After making the environmental decision and completion of design, GOGC plans to construct HPPs with total installed capacity of 8 MW on Paravani river. As a result of the project implementation, Georgia will receive additional 50 million kWh green energy.
