GOGC Finalizes Kvirila River Bank Reinforcement Works

Shalva Kiknavelidze, Technical Director of GOGC, inspected the ongoing works on the Zestaponi-Kutaisi section of the East-West main gas pipeline in Zestaponi Municipality.

At this section, near the Kvirila River aerial crossing, the right bank was significantly damaged due to a change in the riverbed, which posed a threat to the smooth operation of the main gas pipeline, as well as to the local population's arable land and the road connecting to the villages. To reinforce the bank and prevent further damage, a 510-meter rock embankment is being constructed on the washed-out dam section.

The works are being carried out by a contractor company hired by GOGC. Currently, the majority of works have been completed, and the construction of the rock embankment will be finalized in December 2025.

Shalva Kiknavelidze thoroughly reviewed the completed and planned works, which will ensure proper and uninterrupted operation of the gas pipeline.
