New Operating Agreement Signed in Azerbaijan for the Georgian Section of the Baku-Supsa Oil Pipeline
Ekaterine Sisauri, General Director of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC), Farhan Aliyev, Executive Director of SOCAR Midstream Operation LLC and Rovshan Najaf, President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), have signed an agreement to conclude a new operating contract concerning the Georgian section of the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline. Among other key provisions, the agreement sets out the minimum throughput capacity of the pipeline.
The new operating agreement will support the restoration of the pipeline's operations and ensure the continued viability of this strategically important transit route.
The pipeline is a critical component of regional supply chain infrastructure, designed to enable the resumption of oil transit from Central Asia through Georgia to Europe - a flow that has been suspended due to the current geopolitical situation and other related factors.
The Baku-Supsa pipeline stands as the first transit project successfully implemented by Georgia and Azerbaijan in the region.
Ekaterine Sisauri traveled to Baku alongside Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, as part of the Georgian Prime Minister's official state visit.
