Donald Steinberg, The Deputy Chairman Of The United States Agency For International Development Visited Completed Works Of Senaki-Poti Section Of East-West Gas Pipeline.
Representatives of the Agency and USA Embassy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation attended the visit.
The government of USA continues to support Georgia and render help to the government of Georgia in implementation of such important projects like construction and rehabilitation of the gas main pipelines-said Donald Steinberg.
The construction of Senaki-Poti section of gas main pipeline is a big project financed by the USAID, which favors development of the free industrial zone, as well as ensures provision of energy to the population-said Mariam Valishvili, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
Two contractor companies - Sakhydro and Khidmsheni carried out construction works on Senaki-Poti section of the pipeline according to the order of the Corporation. After implementation of the project the inhabitants of the city of Poti and villages of Khobi region - 25 000 families - shall be provided with the natural gas.
The construction of the pipeline was carried out with the help of 115 million US dollar grant of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
