GOGC Announces Tender for the Construction of 45 km Kobuleti Branch of the East West Main Gas Pipeline

Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) has started development of a new pipeline project in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of increased volumes of natural gas to Ajara Autonomous Republic and Guria region. The project envisages construction of DN 500 60 km branch of the East–West Main Gas Pipeline. An alternative route passing through the territories of Abasha, Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti and Kobuleti was selected for the Kobuleti branch development project.

The project will ensure guaranteed and long-term supply of natural gas that will meet the demand increased as a result of economic and touristic development of Ajara Autonomous Republic and Guria coastal area.

Two sections - Abasha-Supsa and Choloki-Kobuleti with total length of 45 km will be constructed at the first stage of the Kobuleti branch development project. GOGC has announced the tender for the construction of these sections. The winning company is obliged to perform construction works within 20 months.

The construction of 15 km Supsa-Choloki section of the Kobuleti branch will start at the end of next year.

GOGC has purchased necessary pipes and materials for the construction of the Kobuleti branch sections in 2016.
