Georgia Concluded Contract with SOCAR to Get Additional Volumes of Gas

Georgia will receive additional 500 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan. The relevant agreement between Georgia and state oil company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has been signed at the Government Chancellery today.

Mr. Kakha Kaladze, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Georgia and Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of SOCAR signed the amendment to the memorandum concluded between Government of Georgia and SOCAR in December 2011.

Today, Mr. David Tvalabeishvili General Director of JSC Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) and Mr. Zaur Guliev, Head of LCC SOCAR Gas Export-Import signed the amendments to the Agreement on Natural Gas Supply concluded between GOGC and LCC SOCAR Gas Export-Import.

GOGC and SOCAR also signed the amendments to Natural Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement of July 2012.

Georgia will receive supplemental volumes of gas form the South Caucasus Pipeline and we will no longer have problem receiving the volumes from Azerbaijan due to technical limitations.

Furthermore, SOCAR has expressed its readiness to reduce commercial gas price for gas stations by USD 35-40 for 1000 cubic meters of gas.
